Saudi authorities have removed the requirement to settle traffic violations as a prerequisite for obtaining or renewing a passport for citizens, as part of an initiative aimed at streamlining official procedures.

The new update on the “Absher” electronic platform allows citizens to complete passport transactions without first needing to pay outstanding traffic fines, accelerating digital processes and reducing burdens on citizens.

The updated service includes two main conditions: the applicant must have a national address registered on the information modification page, and the issuance or renewal fees must be paid through approved government payment channels.

Regarding lost passports, the implementing regulations have set specific conditions. The person reporting the loss must be over 21 years of age or married to ensure the proper legal procedures are followed.
