Mecca prepares to receive Ramadan visitors with transportation enhancements.

The General Transportation Center has completed all necessary preparations for operating transportation services in Mecca during the month of Ramadan, as part of a comprehensive plan aimed at improving traffic flow and providing safe and flexible transportation options, particularly in crowded areas and the central region.

Preparations focused on developing detailed plans for taxis and Mecca buses, including designated pick-up and drop-off locations, and allocating operational resources according to need. Coordination between these services and other modes of transport has also been implemented to ensure integration and reduce travel times during peak hours.

The center has enhanced technical and operational readiness through fleet inspections and the implementation of routine maintenance programs, as well as providing mobile workshops to address any breakdowns or emergencies, while adhering to safety and quality standards around the clock.

The center has worked to regulate taxi access to the central region through a permit system and intensified monitoring to reduce congestion, in coordination with relevant security authorities to ensure the safety of users and operational efficiency, especially during peak periods and in the last ten days of Ramadan.

Regarding public transportation, the capacity of Mecca buses has been increased and their routes organized in the central region. Additionally, two new shuttle lines to the Grand Mosque have been launched: the first from the Sayyida Aisha Mosque station to the Jabal Kaaba Central station, and the second from the Haramain High-Speed Railway station to the Jabal Kaaba Eastern station, to facilitate access for worshippers and pilgrims and alleviate pressure on roads surrounding the mosque.

These measures come within the framework of the General Transportation Center’s efforts to improve the efficiency of the transportation system in Mecca during Ramadan and ensure the sustainability of services and enhance the experience of pilgrims and worshippers.
