Paris Warns: There is no solution to the Iran nuclear file except through dialogue.
Amidst escalating tensions, France has called for prioritizing dialogue between Washington and Tehran, asserting that diplomacy is the only guarantee to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. This French position comes as the United States reinforces its military presence in the Middle East, including deploying naval and air forces, and threatening potential military strikes against Iran.
French Foreign Ministry spokesperson Pascal Confavreau stated that Paris is closely monitoring developments in Iran and maintaining ongoing communication with Washington. He added that Paris views negotiation as the only path to avoid Iran obtaining nuclear weapons, while emphasizing that regime change in Iran cannot be achieved through external intervention.
Meanwhile, Iran has reaffirmed its right to enrich uranium, following American warnings indicating justification for a potential military strike, against the backdrop of indirect negotiations currently underway between the two sides.
For his part, U.S. President Donald Trump has set a timeframe of 10 to 15 days to reach a “great” deal with Iran, threatening “bad things” if an agreement is not reached. Trump indicated past difficulties in reaching an agreement with Iran, but affirmed the necessity of doing so.
