200 Volunteers Launch Initiative to Develop Wadi Al-Sili in Riyadh.
A large-scale volunteer campaign was launched by the Riyadh Region Municipality in the southern part of Wadi Al-Sili in Riyadh, a popular destination for families and nature enthusiasts. The campaign aims to preserve the area’s natural beauty and promote environmental awareness within the city, and falls under the municipality’s plans to care for natural sites.
The initiative was a collaborative effort between the municipality and civil society initiatives, with approximately 200 volunteers participating, including 50 high school students and a Filipino "Saudi Green" initiative team comprised of 150 volunteers of various nationalities.
Volunteers removed 9 tons of waste and conducted awareness campaigns for park visitors, focusing on the importance of environmental conservation and adopting responsible behaviors when visiting valleys and parks.
These efforts are in line with the Riyadh Region Municipality’s support for sustainable urban development and community participation in environmental protection, consistent with Saudi Vision 2030’s objective of building a balanced and sustainable urban environment that contributes to improved quality of life.
